Mary Elizabeth Harmon O'Rander

Mary Elizabeth Harmon O'Rander, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 pm, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Mary was born February 1, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Allen Harmon and Ruth Bradwell. Mary graduated from Chicora High School and retired from working as an Eckerds Fountain manager after 22 years. She also owned an operated a ceramic business. Mary was a straightforward and honest lady who loved reading and was all about family. She raised six kids, worked two jobs, and was known for having a solid character.

She is survived by her son, Warren Allen Hunter (Cheri) of Summerton; daughters, Martha Carlyne Craven of Eutawville, Mary Ruth Parslow (Ronnie) of James Island, Deborah Anne Hunter of James Island, and Diana Elizabeth Rials (John) of Mt. Pleasant; 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. O'Rander; son, Douglas Wayne Hunter; granddaughter, Elizabeth Rae Register; son-in-laws, Michael Craven and Elmer Hodges; and 6 siblings.
