Mary Ellen Meyer

Mary Ellen Meyer, 86, of Summerville, South Carolina, wife of the late John Fred Ernest Meyer III entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 21, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Mary was born May 18, 1938 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of William Perry McKevlin and Annie Slattery McKevlin. She was a graduate of Bishop England High School and lived most of her adult life in Goose Creek, SC. Mary retired from the Navy Exchange and then later Walmart. She loved going on cruises, playing bingo and reading or watching murder mysteries. Weekly card games was a tradition with her friends. First and foremost, Mary loved to be with her family. Her door was always open to anyone in need.

She is survived by her two daughters, Amy Marie Meyer-Helms and Cheryl Hiott; son, Curtis Meyer; sister, Harriot Hamilton (Hemp); sister-in-law, Ruth McKevlin; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, many loved nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many of her close friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Tripp (Gwen); son, John Fred Ernest Meyer IV (Bubba); her brother, William Perry McKevlin Jr., and son-in-law, Tex Helms.
