Mary Player Mellor

Mary Player Mellor, 87, peacefully entered into eternal rest Monday, January 27, 2014, at 4:30 am. Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2014, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 3:00 pm. Entombment, Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum, 7113 Rivers Avenue. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.

Mary was born in Society Hill, SC, daughter of the late Wallace Waddell Player and the late Virginia McElveen Player. Mary retired from the Berkeley County School District and was a former Wilton Art Cake Instructor at J. C. Penney. She also held private classes in cake decorating. She was married for 45 years to the late Robert B. Mellor. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for 58 years.

Mary is survived by her three daughters: Virginia M. Bush (Ron) of Hanahan, SC, Barbara J. Mellor and Carol M. Lee (Kent), all of North Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren: Donald Robert Huffman (Beth) of Summerville, SC, Stacey Michelle Lee (Valerie) of Charlotte NC, Jennifer Lee Fraser (Adam) of San Antonio, TX, Ryan Bush of Charleston, SC and Kristen Lee Richard (Kyle) of Salisbury, MD; and seven great-grandchildren: Drayton Huffman, Ainsley, Reese, Emerson, Hayden Fraser, Sadler and Court Richard; she was also blessed with 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Cora Player Salsgiver, Ann Player Lauder, Jacquelyn Player Smith and one brother, Wallace Waddell Player, Jr.
