Mary Lou Martezus, 68, of Florence, SC, widow of A. L. "Zeke" Simmons, Jr., died at her home on March 22, 2012.
Ms. Martezus was born on October 7, 1943 in Charleston, SC. She was one of five children of John Paul Martezus and Mary Copeland Martezus. She was a graduate of Columbia College School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse throughout the Florence and surrounding area.
She was a member of Willow Creek Baptist Church in Florence, SC and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ms. Martezus is survived by her first husband, W. E. "Gene" Snipes III; their three sons: Thomas Philip Snipes of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Paul Eugene Snipes and his wife Mandi of Summerville, SC and Christopher William Snipes and his wife Patricia of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Johnnie Lynn Goodwin of Illinois and Erie Mae Petersen of Nebraska; brother, Joseph Lee Deshler of Pennsylvania; and grandson, Thomas Joseph "T. J." Snipes of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
The memorial service will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
