Mary Ann Joy Linder, 84, of Johns Island, South Carolina, wife of Earl D. Linder, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 2, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy., at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Mary was born May 2, 1932 in Gifford, SC, daughter of James Albert Joy and Hilda Joy Kmetz. She was married to Earl D. Linder for over 40 years and raised three children on James Island. For many years she worked for the Charleston County School System. Later she worked and retired from a local grocery store chain. She was a charter member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, where she faithfully worked with children in the nursery for over 40 years. She was a great caregiver, especially with children, and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her, step-father, Richard Kmetz of Charleston, SC; two sons, Darrell Linder of Johns Island, SC, and Danny Linder of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Cathy Thigpen of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Gene Joy of Charleston, SC, and Billy Joy of Bonneau, SC; sister, Pat Turner of Manchester, GA, five grandchildren; Elisha Smith of Grays, SC, Brittany Hilger of Charleston, SC, Samantha Linder of Charleston, SC, Courtney Dunlap of Charleston, SC, and Melissa Linder of Johns Island, SC; three great-grandchildren; Louie Smith, Logan Smith, both of Grays SC, and Lucas Reese of Charleston, SC.
