Mary Jenkins Jordan

May 5, 1942 — November 5, 2018

Mary Jenkins Jordan, 76, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 5, 2018 and now joins her beloved husband Johnny in heaven. She was born in Charleston, S.C. on May 5, 1942 to the late Elizabeth Sams Jenkins and Archibald Seabrook Jenkins, Sr. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1960 where she was elected the first female student body president in the school's history. She then went on to attend MUSC College of Nursing and graduated in 1963.

Mary and Johnny met at a high school dance when they were 15 and began a love story that lasted sixty-one years. They were married on June 9, 1962 and were inseparable. Mary cherished her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid and lifelong sports fan. It started at a young age watching her 3 adored brothers play little league, then her children, grandchildren, and most importantly, the USC Gamecocks. She and Johnny were devoted parishioners at The Church of Holy Communion, and she volunteered many hours there from the flower guild to working with Meals on Wheels for over 10 years.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Julie Ostrover (Doug); son, John Miles Jordan III (Deanna); six grandchildren: Reynolds Ostrover, Caroline Ostrover, Olivia Ostrover, Clayton Ostrover, John M. Jordan IV and William P. Jordan; brother, Laurence Jenkins (Marilyn); sister-in-law, Frances Hancock and brother-in-law, William H. Jordan (Jane). She was predeceased by a week by her husband John Miles Jordan, Jr., and her brothers: Archibald Seabrook Jenkins, Jr. and William Reynolds Jenkins.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018.
