Mary Helen Johnson passed away October 18, 2018 at the age of 91. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 27, 1927, she is predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck) T. Johnson and survived by her only daughter Julie Anne.
After graduating from Washington High School, she lived in Speedway, Indiana for many years and worked as an executive secretary at several firms, before joining Rock Island Refining Corporation (Marathon Oil Company). She retired in 1989.
In 2008, she moved to Charleston, South Carolina to be near her daughter, where she developed a deep affection for the Lowcountry and all its beauty and history.
Mary Helen was first and foremost a wife, mother and friend who centered her life around love of family and their well-being. She had great style, an eye for fashion, was an accomplished gardener and a good cook. Her corn casserole now graces the Thanksgiving tables of friends near and far.
Julie Anne would like to thank caregivers Mary Ellen and Marsha and everyone at Crescent Hospice, especially Nickie and Angela.
