Mary Margaret Jaeger, 89, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Joseph James Jaeger, died in her home on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 in Saint John Catholic Church, 3921 St. John's Avenue at 11:00 a.m. The Prayers of farewell and final commendation will be afterwards in Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road.
Mary was born on July 19, 1926 the daughter of Frank Muessig and Katherine K. Muessig on a farm near Pilot Grove, Missouri. After high school, she worked her way through a business school in Kansas City and became a private secretary for an executive of the Travelers Insurance Company. She soon met a young man, Joseph Jaeger, in college on the GI Bill in 1948 and they married.
Mary was a staunch Catholic and was born to be a mother.
Mary is survived by her five children and spouses: Steven Jaeger (Darlene), Jeanne Horne (William), Dorothy Jaeger (Vicki), Edward Jaeger (Joanna) and Patricia Henslee (Michael); sister-in-law, Eileen, widow of her brother, Raymond Muessig; grandchildren: Stephen Jaeger (Amanda), Kristopher Jaeger (Jessica), Michael Henslee (Krissy), Danelle Jaeger, Natalie Jaeger and Nathan Jaeger; great-grandchildren: Carly Jaeger, Ava Jaeger, Brooke Jaeger, Gavin Lee, Meyli Jaeger and Elyse Nae Jaeger.
She was predeceased by four brothers: Joseph Muessig, Larry Muessig, Leonard Muessig and Raymond Muessig.
