Mary Evelyn Hursey, 96, of Summerville, SC, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.

Mary was born June 28, 1919 in Register, GA, daughter of the late Lonnie Isaac Jones and the late Eliza Holloway Jones. She was a homemaker, wife and mother. Mary was a founding member of Cooper River Baptist Church. She and her husband were married 53 years.

She is survived by four sons, John Hursey (Sarah) of Columbia, SC, Robert B. Hursey (Marion) of Anderson, SC, Fred Hursey (Nancy) of Warner Robins, GA, James Hursey (Janyce) of Summerville, SC; daughter-in-law, Ilse Hursey of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Cone "Doc" Hursey, a son, Malcolm J. Hursey and a sister, Sue Sutton.
