Mary Belle Byrd Hunt, age 94, formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, died March 29, 2011, at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing, Danville, Pennsylvania. The relatives and friends of Mary Belle Hunt are invited to attend her memorial service on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Branchville, South Carolina on April 2, 1916, and was the daughter of the late William Ellis and Articher Berry Byrd. She resided in Charleston for most of her life until moving to Danville, Pennsylvania three years ago. She was a member of the James Island Baptist Church, where she was involved in many activities. She also belonged to the American Iris Society, and the James Island Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Mattern, wife of Gray Mattern of Danville, and formerly of Bloomsburg, PA, Patricia Wilson, wife of Everett Wilson of Canadys, SC; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hunt in January, 1998, and by a grandson, Paul Mattern in 1998.
Mrs. Hunt is the last of her immediate family.
