Mary was born in Anniston, Alabama, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Garrison and always shared that she was born in the greatest generation. Mary was a true southern lady, devoted wife, homemaker, and mother to her five children, grandmother to 12 and great grandmother to seven. Mary was a faithful servant, serving God as she lovingly served her family and friends and those she met along life's way. She always proclaimed and acknowledged her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to all that would hear and listen. She and her husband, Carl, raised their children in the Baptist doctrine at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. At the death of her husband Carl, she would later marry Roy Hammond, moving their membership to North Trenholm Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. In the year 2000, they would move to their new home in Mt. Pleasant, SC and become members of First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Roy and Mary were devoted members of FBCMP and John Bradham's Bible Study Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve.
Surviving Mary are her daughters, Carlene Wiser (Bud), Frances Faye Merritt (Bobby), her sons, Carl Robert Mullinax, Jr. (Barbara), William Joseph Mullinax (Janis) and John Henry Mullinax (Becky). She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Robert Mullinax, the father of her five children and by her second husband, Robert Roy Hammond, Jr.
The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the love and support of Mary's faithful "Caregivers" these past two years; Jackie Carlson, Ruthie Simmons, and Carol Tucker.
