Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 6, 2011, Mary Eleise Benton Griffin, widow of James Elwood Griffin of Goose Creek, SC.  The relatives and friends of Mrs. Griffin are invited to attend her funeral service in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Friday, June 10, 2011, at 11:00am.  Interment, Carolina Memorial Park.  Friends may call at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel on Thursday, between 6:00 and 8:00pm.

Mrs. Griffin was born on February 18, 1937 in Walterboro, SC the daughter of David Smith Benton and Gladys Eleise Mariah Smoak Benton.  She was formerly employed as a seamstress for Hunter Manufacturing.  She enjoyed her crochet work, sewing, gardening, cooking and especially loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children:  James M. Griffin of Ridgeville, SC, John C. Griffin, Sr. (Debbie) of Ladson, SC, Debra J. G. Reynolds of Charleston, SC and M. Catherine Smith (James Fontaine) of Summerville, SC; brothers, David Belton Benton of Ravenel, SC and Roy Allen Benton (Nellie) of Ladson, SC; sister, Theresa Harriett Muse (Jerry) of Ravenel, SC; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
