Mary F. Colarusso, age 73, passed away on September 12 in Charleston, SC after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, surrounded by her beloved husband Michael and children. Along with her husband, Mary is survived by her son Jonathan Colarusso and his wife Sarah of Charleston, SC, her son Brian Colarusso and his wife Maria of Milton, MA and her daughter Mia Smith and her husband Andy of Charleston, SC. She was the cherished Grandmother, “Mimi” to Hazel and Oliver Smith of Charleston and Brayden and Ella Colarusso of Milton.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Noons and husband, Michael, Margaret Nucci and husband John and her brother, Walter Noons. She also leaves an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as two loving sisters-in-law, Eleanor Belanger and Phyllis Nolan.
Mary was the daughter of the late Margaret and Walter Noons. She grew up in Dorchester, which is where she met the love of her life, Michael. They have been married for 49 years and enjoyed happy years in Melrose, MA, Quechee and Woodstock, VT and Osterville, MA before relocating to Charleston.
Mary’s life was well lived and she was known by all as a kind, understanding, compassionate and loving woman.She was a great cook, a fabulous baker and a creative educator. She cherished her family and was a true friend, and confidant to many and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name, 884 Allbritton Blvd Suite 115, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
A celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3673 Maybank Highway, on September 30th at 12:00 pm, and in Melrose, MA on October 14, 2023. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
