Mary "Woodie" Elizabeth Easterlin, 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Alley and wife of the late William Edgerton Easterlin, Sr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 23, 2017. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Saint James Church, 1872 Camp Road, James Island at 3:00 p.m. followed by interment in the churchyard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Saint. James Ministry Center. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Woodie was born April 16, 1923, in Florence, S.C. She moved to Charleston at age four. Woodie was a graduate of Memminger High School and also attended Rice Business College. She devoted her life to her beloved husband Billy, to whom she was married for 52 years, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Woodie was involved in many activities of the schools which her children attended, as well as all aspects of their everyday lives. She was an active member of Saint James Church since 1964. Woodie sang in the Saint James Church choir from that time until she was in her 90s. She also served as chairwoman of the Resurrection Choir. After rearing her own children, Woodie worked at Loving and Learning Educational Center caring for infants. Woodie will be remembered by her family and friends for her devotion and loyalty. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wish to acknowledge their gratitude for the blessing of Woodie's life.
She is survived by two sons, William Edgerton Easterlin, Jr. (Linda) and Thomas LeRoy Easterlin (Cindy) both of James Island; two daughters, Joyce Easterlin Daughtrey (Butch) of James Island and Lisa Easterlin Evans (Tim) of Summerville; ten grandchildren, William "Ashley" Easterlin (Sara) of John's Island, Robert Michael Easterlin (Michelle) of Mt. Pleasant, Dawn Easterlin Stewart (Toby) of James Island, Brandon Leigh Hopkins Easterlin of Charlotte, N.C., Mary "Susan" Daughtrey of James Island, Charles "Kevin" Daughtrey (Mandy) of James Island, Timothy Easterlin Evans (Felicia) of Naples, F.L., William Aldret Evans (Melissa) of Goose Creek, Sidney "Michael" Acker of Hilton Head Island, and Elizabeth "Nicole" Acker of James Island; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Easterlin, Benjamin Andrew Easterlin, Kathryn Elizabeth Easterlin, Hannah Lee Hankins, Hayden Lee Stewart, Coleman Eugene Stewart, Lila Claire Easterlin, Sullivan Lucas Easterlin, Hunter McKenzie Acker, Harrison Michael Acker, Charles "Jaques" Daughtrey, Rebekah Anne Daughtrey, Josiah Thomas Evans, Noah Timothy Evans, and Lillian Andrew Evans. She was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Welsh Evans.
