Mary Beth Dacey

Mary Beth McKeon Dacey, 78, of Charleston, SC passed away on June 27, 2025 in Roswell, GA.

She was born on July 29, 1946 in The Bronx in New York City, to George, Sr. and Kathleen McKeon and grew up in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Mary Beth graduated from Ladycliff Academy, Chestnut Hill College and College of Charleston. She and her late husband, Paul were married on July 4, 1968 until his death on May 25, 2015.

She was an exceptional daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, educator, advisor, volunteer, confidant and more. She set the bar very high in all areas. Of all of her roles throughout her life, her greatest pleasure was being a wife, mother and "Guy" to her grandsons.

A nursery school teacher for many years, she was also Executive Director of Life Management education center where she played a key role in the growth of the organization, developing programs and raising funds to expand its outreach to the community.

A world traveler, she loved volunteering with many service organizations in the communities she lived in. Playing Mahjongg, Bridge and Solitaire, walking on the beach, spending time with family and friends and reading were among many of her favorite activities.

Mary Beth is survived by her daughter, Meaghan Federico (Chris); grandsons, Michael Federico and Dominic Federico; siblings, George McKeon, Jr., Katy Graham and Bernadette Hohenadel; nieces, Terianne McKeon (Dana), Marikay McKeon, Maggie Hohenadel and nephew, Michael Hohenadel, Jr. (Kathleen).

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents, George McKeon, Sr. and Kathleen McKeon; husband, Paul Dacey; cousin, Anne McCrory; niece, Elizabeth Scott; sister-in-law, Joyce McKeon and cousin, John McKeon, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The ALS Association; Respite Care Charleston; Alzheimer's Association; Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, Johns Island, SC; St. George Village, Roswell, GA; Agape Hospice of Northeast Georgia; LifeSource, Inc., Wilmington, NC and Functional Pathways, Knoxville, TN.

A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, July 26th at 11:00am at the J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel. The family will receive friends a half-hour prior. Burial will immediately follow the Memorial Service at Magnolia Cemetery.
