Mary Elizabeth Cuzzell

Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Behrens Cuzzell, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Charles L. Cuzzell, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 in the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in Lutheran Church of The Redeemer. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

Mrs. Cuzzell was born April 19, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Henry Behrens, Jr. and Thelma Reeves Behrens. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, where she served as the Treasurer for the church for many years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charleston Rifle Club and was a DOE of BPOE. In her spare time, Libby loved to sew and go shopping. In the late 1940's, Libby worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Later in life, she was the Administrative Assistant to Dr. William F. Maguire, Sr. But, above all, she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Cuzzell, Jr. of Charleston, SC; her children, Sandra (Bill) Marks of Lone Star, SC, Charles L. (Sherril) Cuzzell, III of Summerville, SC, and Marilyn (Sam) Rasor of Hernando, FL; her four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
