Mary Ellen Cauthen

Mary Ellen Cauthen, 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. The relatives and friends of Mary Cauthen are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Friday, June 21, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 4:00 pm. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 3:00 until time of the service.

Mary Ellen was born September 11, 1936 in Columbia, South Carolina, daughter of the late Wylie Bell Cauthen and the late Daisy Lee Gibson Cauthen. She graduated Columbia High School in 1954 and attended the University of South Carolina. Mary Ellen was a teacher in her younger years where she worked as the Director and Kindergarten Teacher at First Baptist Church in Camden , SC and Addelston Hebrew Academy in Charleston, SC. She was also employed by Wild Dunes and Royall Hardware. She loved spending days at the Beach on Sullivan's Island with family and friends. Mary Ellen loved the beach, getting a suntan, reading, watching soap operas, Jay Leno, drinking coca cola, and sweet iced tea. Her favorite color was yellow and she loved taking pictures of family and had walls full of pictures in her apartment. Her love and devotion to her family will be remembered always. She was a wonderful and loving Mother, Sister, Daughter and Grandmother.

She is survived by her 3 sons; Bret Cauthen of Mt Pleasant SC, Jace Boozer of Mt Pleasant SC and Jim Boozer Sr., currently living in Japan. She also has 3 daughters in law; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

She was a one of a kind person we will miss her dearly. Mary Ellen has asked that any donations in her name be provided to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, S.C. 29406.
