Mary “Peggy” Keegan Carron passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, after a battle with dementia. She was 96 years old.
Peggy was born on January 4, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, to James Keegan and Carleen Kuiper Keegan. She was known as “Peggy” throughout her life, a name that reflected the warmth and familiarity she brought to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters Dottie, Loretta, Carolyn, and Eileen. She is survived by her sister Kathy of New York.
Peggy graduated from Beaumont High School, Class of 1948. On November 18, 1950, she married the love of her life, Jack Carron. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and friendship.
Peggy was a devout Catholic whose faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She raised her children in the Catholic tradition, instilling in them values that remained important throughout their lives. She was an avid artist and seamstress, effortlessly creating beautiful paintings and She never found clothes she could not create or alter without instruction.
Peggy is survived by her five children: Mike (Stephanie) of South Carolina, Jim (Donna) of Tennessee, Glenn (Linda) of Kentucky, Jack (Nancy) of Kentucky, and Steve (Jo Lynn) of South Carolina. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren.
In 1975, Peggy and Jack moved to Louisville, Kentucky, for Jack’s work. In 1992, they retired to Hernando, Florida, where they enjoyed life in a home on a golf course, complete with a pool that became a gathering place for family and friends. Peggy continued living there after Jack’s passing in 2009.
In 2020, she moved to a senior living facility in Hernando, and in 2025, she relocated to South Carolina to be closer to her sons Mike and Steve and their families.
Peggy loved her family deeply, especially her sisters, and cherished time spent with friends and loved ones. She enjoyed relaxing by the pool and was an avid walker well into her later years. Her life was defined by her devotion to those around her and the joy she found in simple, meaningful moments. Besides her immediate family she was especially close to Diane Schmidt and Mary Ann Keubler.
Peggy will be remembered for her warmth, her steady presence, her deep faith, and her enduring love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of connection, care, and lasting memories that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
The family will hold services at St. Benedict Catholic Church at a later date.
