Mary Ruth Brunson Jarriel, 92, of James Island, South Carolina, widow of Woodrow Wilson Jarriel entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 in The First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Mary was born September 27, 1925 in Averill, Allendale County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Kelly Maxwell Brunson, Sr., and Annie Louise Creech Disher. She was a retired Medical Claims Insurance Specialist working many years with Blue Cross Blue Shield and several doctor's offices. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston where she was formerly very active in many church activities. Mary enjoyed sewing, and baking. She was an excellent cook, and also loved gardening.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela J. Demas (Ted) of Hillsborough, NC, and Donna J. Parrish (Sim) of James Island, SC; daughter-in-law, Linda B. Jarriel of Johns Island, SC; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Julian "Pete" Brunson (Bobbie) of Varnville, SC, and Kelly "Max" Maxwell Brunson, Jr., (Sandy) of Hampton, SC; sister, Myrna B. Wilson of Fairfax, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, George Wayne Jarriel, Sr., grandson, Theodore "Tad" John Demas, Jr., and three brothers, Robert Marion Brunson, Samuel Franklin Brunson, and George Byron Brunson.
