Los Angeles, CA - Mary Elizabeth Harrison Barrett, 91, of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC 29401.
Mary, known to family and friends as Betty, was born October 27, 1922, in Camden, New Jersey, the daughter of the late John Tyler Harrison and Mary Griffith Harrison. She was previously employed by Haddon Bindery in Camden, NJ, and Walker, Evans, and Cogswell Company in Charleston, SC. She last worked at Brandon's Beauty Salon in Charleston, SC, before retiring to spend more time with her family, which was the most important thing in her life. One of her favorite pastimes was sewing custom made Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael W. Barrett of Lake Mary, FL; daughter, Kathleen Mary Steelman of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Marcia Hunter, Patrick Barrett and Lindsey Green; four great grandchildren, Haley Minish, Alexandria Hunter, Alyssa Gallo and Joshua Green; and one brother, Jack Harrison of Dunnellon, FL.
