Mary McKagen Aichele, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of James H. Aichele entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 10, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in The Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way, at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Mary was born June 1, 1926 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, daughter of Eldon Dixon McKagen and Lessie Crawford McKagen. She was a graduate of Winthrop University. Mary was active in and past President of the Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association of the Country Club of Charleston, a member of The Arion Society Auxiliary, The Garden Club of Charleston, The Friday Night Supper Club, and the D.A.R. She was also a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her Tripoli group, lifelong friends from The Crescent, children's sporting events, and her second home in Cashiers, NC. She was an avid Clemson Tiger fan.
In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, James, she is survived by her three daughters, Linda A. Momeier and her husband Tommy of North Augusta, SC, Laura A. Wilson and her husband Bill of Mount Pleasant, SC, Jeanne A. Jammè and her husband Paul of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sons, James "Fritz" H. Aichele, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Canadys, SC, and Eric C. Aichele of Mount Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Christina A. Lindsay and her husband Charlie, Sarah A. Cassidy and her husband Shawn, Nicolette A. Talbert and her husband Patrick, Jennifer W. Smith and her husband Matt, and William E. Wilson, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail Cassidy, Sophia Cassidy, James Henry Lindsay, and Forrest Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Eldon Dixon McKagen, Jr. and William C. McKagen.
