Martin Luther Dukes, Jr.

Martin Luther Dukes, Jr., 71, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Aida "Lu" Acosta Dukes, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 20, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. 

Martin was born July 26, 1951 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Martin Luther Dukes, Sr. and Frances Marie Carter.  He took great pride as a Salesman for a wonderful auto dealership in Sarasota, FL.  Martin was a family man and a friend to all who met him.  Among his many talents, Martin loved to grow his own vegetables in his garden, with peppers being his specialty.  He was a fantastic cook and would often times create delicious meals without much of a plan, using what was on hand in the pantry.  Martin loved sailing, cigars and baking.  He was always flanked by his dog Liah and was considered by many to be the life of the party.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife; one son, Christopher Martin Dukes (Michelle Tallon); one daughter, Isabella Marie Dukes; two grandchildren, Juliette Dukes and Jaden Smith; sister, Gail Felder (Michael); brother, David Dukes (Cari); nephew, Brandon Felder (Jennifer); three nieces, Sarah DeBord (Brad), Caitlyn O'Neill (Jordan) and Sierra Rouse; several great nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Graham and brother, LaFon Dukes.
