Martha Cope Smith

Martha Cope Smith, 82, of North Charleston, SC, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1444 Remount Road at 11:00 am. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.

Martha was born June 28, 1933 in Hampton, SC, daughter of the late Medicus Oliver Cope and the late Earline DeLoach. She was retired from Martin's Day Care Center and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Martha was a member of the United Methodist Women, Aldersgate United Methodist Church Choir, volunteered at Trident Medical Center and was an avid camper.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marshall M. Smith; son, Douglas N. Smith (Maria) of Easley, SC; two daughters, Wanda Gail Smith (Brenda) of Huger, SC and Donna Jacqueline Kennedy of Chesapeake, VA; three grandsons: Wesley A. Smith, Dalton J. Kennedy and Clayton John Marshall Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles O. Cope and Carl J. Cope.
