Martha Steadman Brown Millard

July 3, 1925 — June 18, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Friday, June 18, 2010, Martha Steadman Brown Millard, 84, of Charleston, SC, widow of Charles Stanley Brown and Lewis Stacy Millard. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Millard are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at eleven o'clock in Northbridge Baptist Church, immediately followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Burial services will be private.


Mrs. Millard was born July 3, 1925, the daughter of the late John Elbert Steadman, Jr. and Dessie Juanita Hungerpiller Steadman.  She attended Winthrop College and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina.  She had retired from The Charleston Museum as a Historic House Interpreter where she had special interest in the Joseph Manigualt House and was a member of The Preservation Society of Charleston and a past member of The Gibbs Art Museum. Mrs. Millard was a member of Northbridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over forty years.


Mrs. Millard was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Steadman Ariail.


She is survived by two sons, Charles S. Brown, Jr. of Charleston and David E. Brown and his wife Terri, of Summerville and one daughter, Catherine Brown Tolerico and her husband Stephen, of Dallas, Texas and four grandchildren: Brice Strickland, Scott Strickland, Kyle Brown and Justin Brown.
