Martha "Winnie" Caudill Holbein

Winnie died on January 6, 2024, at the age of 87. Woody was waiting with open arms. She was a native of Portsmouth, OH, graduating from Portsmouth HS and attending The Ohio State University. She and Woody relocated to Charleston, SC and called the Lowcountry home. They lived on campus at The Citadel where Woody taught English and Winnie worked at Ashley Hall’s Lower School. Many lifelong and dear friends were made at both.

  Retirement was enjoyed while living on Sullivan’s Island and later in Mt Pleasant. Their travels were far and many, joining friends on European tours and visiting Beth and John at their many different Army assignments. They had a great life together.

  Winnie is survived by her daughters, Beth and Jessica, grandchildren, Tradd (Juli), Lauren (Maulik), and Miles, great-grandchildren, Desmond and Raina, brothers, John and Randy and sister, Becky. A private burial will be held at a later date.
