Martha V. Ackerman

Martha V. Ackerman, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Albert Earl Ackerman died Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road with a reception at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Martha was born July 15, 1949 in Charleston, South Carolina, she was one of four children of the late Derwood Lorraine Aydlette Sr. and the late Emma Frances Stebner Aydlette. She graduated from St. Andrews High School and Trident Technical College. Martha retired after 27 years as a Registered Nurse with Parkwood Pediatrics with Dr. Malcolm Rhodes. She was a charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church where she was very active in the choir and taught confirmation classes. She attended St. Andrews Anglican Church of Mt. Pleasant and was a member of the Salty Sisters Bible Study.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Albert "Al" Ackerman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Lisa Marie Ferguson (Dr. John Matthew Ferguson) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother, Charles "Chuck" Robert Aydlette (Jan) of Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law, Libby Aydlette and Linda Aydlette, all of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Jack Harris Ferguson, Charles "Charlie" O'Neal Ferguson and Thomas Cooper Ferguson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Lynne Ackerman and two brothers, Derwood "Woody" Lorraine Aydlette, Jr. and Rondal "Ron" Earl Aydlette.
