Marshall McTeer Smith, 91, of North Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 5, 2025. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9th in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. His funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10th in the Northwoods Chapel at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Marshall was born September 8, 1933 in Smoaks, South Carolina, son of the late Watson Smith and the late Edna Kinard. He was a Merchant Marine and retired from Westvaco. He loved his family, church, traveling, camping, hunting & fishing, and Waffle House. He was no stranger to hard work and grew up farming. Along with being a Marine Merchant, he had a home repair & painting business. He never met a stranger and all were always welcome at their house.

He is survived by children, Douglas Smith (Maria), Wanda Smith (Brenda), and Donna Kennedy; grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Dalton Kennedy (Kaleigh Kelly), and Clayton Kennedy (Katharine); great-granddaughter, Harper Jo Kennedy; sister, Bonnie Holmstrom; and one more great-grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Martha Cope Smith.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Marshall's caregiver, Danielle Moore, who could make him smile no matter what, her mother Claire, and Interum Hospice for their help and support.

Memorial donations can be made in Marshall's memory to Charleston Animal Society on Remount Rd.
