Marnie Velissa Barbosa West returned to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2115 N. Highway 17, Mt. Pleasant at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Marnie was born March 18, 1967 in San Juan Puerto Rico to Norma Luz Perez and Pedro Juan Barbosa. Marnie had a love for learning and was an excellent student. She excelled in math and science and was a member of the National Honor Society. Marnie always had a smile for everyone! She genuinely loved everyone that she met and never had an unkind word. She brought joy to all those around her. She has always had a great love for the Lord. She loved to sing and play the guitar for her church. Marnie attended college at The University of Puerto Rico and then in 1987 moved to New Jersey. Marnie met David Lawrence West and their friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story. They were married for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1990. Their love for each other could be felt by all those who knew them. They served together in Camden, New Jersey in their church callings and it brought great joy into their lives. They were blessed to be parents to four beautiful children; Alma Luz, Jared Hyrum, Joshua Benjamin and Ana Marjory. In 1999, they moved to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Marnie loved the beauty of the area and felt very blessed every day to live in such a gorgeous state. She loved the people here and made a new friend wherever she went. She had the gift of making others feel loved and found great joy in serving others.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, children, parents, her brother Rodnie Barbosa, and Janie Febus, as well as numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father in law, Larry and Marjory West.
