Marlene was born October 1, 1933, in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late James Theodore Fralix and the late Ellen Victoria Fralix. She was born the 2nd of 9 children. She graduated from Chicora High School in 1952. She started dating Melvin in 1948 when she was just 15 years old, married the love of her life on October 5, 1952, and remained by his side for the remainder of her life, and their love for each other was immeasurable. She was an active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd. Marlene and her husband Melvin were members of their church choirs for more than 50 years. Some of her greatest pleasures were decorating the church for Christmas and other special occasions, being a Lay Eucharistic Minister, and being a member of the Daughters of the King. Marlene was an active and enthusiastic member, vocalist, and past president of the BPO DOES. The two of them raised 4 children and were always present at numerous dance recitals, concerts, school awards, and sporting events in order to cheer on their children and grandchildren. Whether celebrating the birth of a grandchild or sitting at the bedside of someone who was ill, Marlene put everyday concerns aside to be available. She could be seen entertaining residents of nursing homes and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and numerous charities. Family and friends always came first with Marlene. Marlene’s legacy is her faith, family, and her husband, Melvin of 71 years. She will be deeply missed.
