Marlene Welch Barton

Marlene Welch Barton, 90, of Charleston, SC and wife of the late Lewis Wade Barton, entered eternal rest Friday, July 5, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held at the graveside, Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Ave, at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel. 

Marlene was born September 9, 1933, in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late Frank Theodore Welch and the late Miriam Rosebrock Welch. She was a graduate of North Charleston High School. Marlene worked at Kress for more than 20 years and later worked for the Charleston County School District Maintenance Department for more than 30 years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. 

She is survived by her Aunt, Maude Hickman, of Johns Island and several cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank T. Welch.
