Mark Alan Johnston, II, 33, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 3, 2021. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Interment with military honors will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive in North Charleston. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing.
Mark was born August 25, 1988 in Miami, Florida, son of Terri Buckheister Johnston and the late Mark Alan Johnston. He faithfully served his country for four years in the United States Army and fought in the Iraq War. Mark's dedication and hard work earned him the following medals and honors: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/Campaign Star and the Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.
Mark grew up playing sports of all kinds and excelled in both baseball and basketball, playing with the Miami Springs Optimist Club. He loved to fish and spend time with family and friends on the water.
He is survived by his loving mother Terri Johnston; brother, Michael Edward Johnston; grandmother, Patricia Buckheister; four uncles, Christopher Buckheister and his wife Salena, Carl Buckheister, Joe Johnston and his wife Youngin and Jeff Johnston; three cousins, Matthew, Rebecca and Cheryl.
He was predeceased by his father Mark Johnston, grandfather James Ronald Buckheister and grandparents Karl and Joan Johnston.
