Mark Patrick Blanchard, 50, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC and a resident of Shulerville, SC for the past 15 years passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at home. The relatives and friends of Mark Blanchard are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 1:00 pm. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 10:00 am until time of the service.

Mark was born on May 28, 1961 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Clara Elizabeth (Betty) Farmer Blanchard and the late Charles Comar Blanchard, Sr. Mark was a master craftsman and head superintendent for Charles Blanchard Construction Company from 1979 to 2006. In his retirement he was often brought in by other contractors to be a consultant in historic restorations. Some of his notable accomplishments as chief superintendent included building and restoration of many local landmarks, such as the Catholic Bishop's residence on Broad Street, US Customs House, Gibbes Art Gallery, Dock Street Theater, Old Seaman's Chapel, multiple renovations of St. Philip's and St. Michael's Churches, #5 St. Michael's Alley, the McBee House at Ashley Hall, Edisto Island Presbyterian Church, Stella Maris Catholic Church, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Salem Baptist Church, Rice Mill at Middleton Plantation, Huntington Island Light House, Historic Branchville Train Station and renovation of Front Street in Georgetown, SC. Many of these restored properties that he supervised have won Carolopolis Awards and the restoration of 175 King Street won the PACE Award in 2006. Mark was a loving father and he was well loved by his many friends and co-workers. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture making, boating, riding his "Harley" and spending time with "his daughters".

He is survived by his mother, his four daughters, Amanda Ann, Holly Louise, Heidi Elizabeth and Cassie Marie; his brothers, Charles Comar, Jr., Michael Garland (Beth), Regan Igoe (Patricia); his sister, Jo Beth Blanchard Perot (Chris) and sister-in-law, Becky B. Blanchard; nieces, Riley Wade and Elizabeth Blanchard; nephews, Charles Blanchard, III, Gerald Wade, III, Kevin Wright Blanchard, Jr., Garland Blanchard, Parker Blanchard, John Regan Blanchard and Christopher Perot, Jr.; a great niece, Morgaine Blanchard; his aunts, Mary Sullivan (Wayne), Nancy Keck (Harold) of Goldsboro, NC, Mary S. Blanchard and Helena Blanchard Vivona (Dominic) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kathy Blanchard of Charleston, SC; uncles, Ben Farmer (Julie) of Savannah, GA and David Blanchard (Linda) of Charleston, SC. Mark is also survived by his ex-wife, LaDonna S. Blanchard, who took extraordinary care of him and their four girls throughout his illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his brother, Kevin Blanchard, his fraternal grandparents, Claude and Helena (Nellie) Blanchard, his maternal grandparents, Garland and Mable Farmer.
