Marjorie was born October 10, 1925, in Savannah, GA, a daughter of the late Andrew Joseph Ryan and Eleanor Reese Ryan. She attended the University of Georgia, and moved to Charleston as a young bride. Marjorie was a member of the Ivy Garden Club and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. An accomplished gardener, Marjorie had an eye for beauty and for nature. Summers on Sullivan's Island, Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant or the cool of Flat Rock, North Carolina, were a happy distraction for this mother of five.
She is survived by three daughters, Carmel R. Dodds (Peter), Eleanor R. McClintock, all of Mount Pleasant, SC and Marjorie R. Conway (John) of Atlanta GA; two sons, Jonathan Ross, (Jenna) and Sam Ross, (Alicia), all of Mount Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, James, Mary Macy, Ross, Katherine, Hannah and Sam III, and a sister, Josephine R. McLaughlin of Savannah, GA.
Marjorie's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at East Cooper and Roper Hospitals as well as the staff at Sandpiper Retirement Village for the care afforded Marjorie during her illness.
Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Ste 300, Charleston, SC 29403 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 537 Long Point Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
