Mrs. Marjorie "Marge" Wrenn Milligan, 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2014, in Vidalia, GA. A native of Toombs County, GA, she was the daughter of Remer and Annie Findley Wrenn and grew up in Tattnall County, GA. She moved to Savannah in 1939, where she began a business career and married Frank F. Pierce. After his untimely death, Marge married Aubrey Milligan and they opened a Baker Brothers (now Baker Distributing) branch in Charleston in 1958. She retired in 1983 and lived in Charleston until becoming a resident of Bethany Assisted Living in Vidalia in 2007. Marge maintained her membership at Ashley River Baptist Church in Charleston for over 55 years, until her passing. She was an active participant in Sunday School and a volunteer from her church to visit the sick in local hospitals. Marge was an enthusiastic fan of University of South Carolina basketball and an avid reader of the Charleston Post and Courier and the Wall Street Journal, which she read daily each morning with her coffee.
Survivors include her son, Robert F. Pierce and wife, Mary Ann, of Bonita Springs, FL; a grandson, Robert Van Pierce of St. Louis, MO; and sisters: Penny Haag of Hendersonville, TN, Joyce Collins and Glenda Inman, both of Lyons, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey D. Milligan in 2003, her parents, four sisters and three brothers.
Marge will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her large extended families of Wrenns and Milligans and attending family reunions.
Her funeral service will be held at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Monday from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Bethany Home in Vidalia for their loving care of Mrs. Milligan.
