Marjorie grew up downtown in her beloved Charleston, where she ate many a boiled peanut sitting at Colonial Lake. She retired after over thirty years of dedicated service at the US Army Corps of Engineers. Margie, as many friends and family called her, had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew her. She loved old Hollywood movie stars and movies, especially musicals; she had a beautiful singing voice and could sing every song. She was also an amazing lyricist who created such titles as Dingy Dangy and Bobobabob, which she regularly sang at every opportunity!
Marjorie is survived by her husband Carl (Mac) of 65 years, two daughters, Nancy Heath (Rick) and Jean Hodges (Paul), sister Marilyn Sommer (Doug) and brother Raymond Smoak (Barbara). Also, left to cherish her memory are six grandchildren: Conrad Simmons (Danielle), Erica Stephens (Chris), Ellen Heath, Andrew Heath, Clair Cook, and Tiffany Allen (Charlie) and five great grands: Daniel, Lydia, Nathan, Joshua, and Madilyn.
