Marion Joan Douglas Mitchum, 85, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021, the widow of Troy L. Mitchum. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 712 Wappoo Rd., Charleston, SC 29407, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August, 12, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414.

Marion was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Bernard and Gertrude Douglas. She was a shining light that will be missed, but is still shining on us all.

She met the love of her life (Troy "Mitch") at the Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan. It was love at first sight. They relocated to Charleston, SC and raised three children: Gary, Greg, and Rene.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Bernard Douglas; and her sister, Bernice Douglas.

Marion is survived by her three children, Gary Mitchum (Julie), Greg Mitchum, and Rene Wall (Robert); her eight grandchildren, Bobby Dangerfield, Megan Mitchum, Haley Mitchum, Sam Wishard, Austin Wall, Shelby Studebaker, Kelsey Wall, and Doug Mitchum; two great grandchildren, Troy Dangerfield and Lyla Rourk; her sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Campbell (Richard); and her brother, Paul Douglas (Barb).

Our family sincerely appreciates the wonderful caregivers who loved our Mom and took amazing care of her, as well as the assistance from Agape Care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
