Marilyn Marie
Jordan
October 24, 1964 – May 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and dog mom, Marilyn Marie Jordan, 61, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Marilyn was born in Charleston, SC on October 24, 1964. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston in 1986, she helped build a global international business in environmental manufacturing as the Chief Financial Officer.
For years, she faithfully served as the family's self-appointed Director of Fun, a position she took very seriously. No gathering was complete without her arriving with a bag full of games, a competitive spirit, and a plan to make sure no one sat around. Whether you wanted to play or not, somehow you ways ended up laughing.
She adored her dogs, who were spoiled with love, treats, and attention, and she treasured every moment spent with her nieces and nephew. To them, she was not only an aunt but also a playmate, cheerleader, and expert maker of memories.
She possessed a rare and closely guarded family treasure: the ability to make our grandmother's famous 10-layer chocolate caramel cake. Despite years of observation, note-taking, and hopeful volunteering from the rest of us, she remained the only person who could truly recreate them. The secret may have gone with her, but the sweet memories certainly have not.
She leaves behind a family that will forever miss her laughter, her kindness, her enthusiasm for bringing people together and her unwavering commitment to making every occasion a little more fun. While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in imagining her in heaven organizing a game, surrounded by dogs, serving perfect slices of chocolate and caramel cakes, and reminding everyone that life is meant to be enjoyed.
She is survived by her father, John L. Jordan; siblings, Cynthia Lowery (Robert), John Jordan, Jr. (Kim); nieces and nephews, Jordan Lowery (Corey), Caroline Lowery, Robert Lowery, Jr., Brittany Robbins (Thomas), Kinsey Jordan; great nephew and niece, Sullivan Crowder, Caroline Crowder; and best friend, Cindy Merritt Lovelace (Steven).
She was recently preceded in death by her mother, Eddie Ruth Jordan.
Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her joy, love, and laughter will remain with us always.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
