Marika Bonner, 79, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Edward Forrest Bonner entered into eternal rest Monday, October 17, 2022. Her memorial service will be held November 19, 2022 at 11:00am in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.
Marika was born February 9, 1943, in Narva, Estonia, daughter of the late Nikolai Fleiss and the late Maria Estna. She was an executive director and stayed with the same company throughout her long and successful career at Orange County Medical Association until her retirement. A long time resident of Huntington Beach, California, she and her husband moved to Mount Pleasant in 2017 to be close to their beloved grandchildren.
As busy as Marika was at work, she always made sure to have quality time with her family. She especially appreciated travelling with her family. Once their daughter was older, she enjoyed having one on one time travelling with her husband. When she became a grandmother, she loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Marika enjoyed cooking and finding new recipes. As a rule, she always followed the recipe the first time. The second time she would make changes as she saw fit and always improved the original recipe. She combined this talent with the delight she had in spending time with her long-time friends. She was known to throw wonderful gatherings and being a gracious hostess.
She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Novak; son-in-law, Paul Novak; two grandchildren, Brianna Novak and Isabelle Novak.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nikolai and Maria Fleiss and her beloved husband of 54 years, Edward Forrest Bonner.
Memorials may be made to Lowcountry Food Bank lowcountryfoodbank.org 2864 Azalea Drive Charleston, SC 29405.
