Marienia Jean Smith, 76, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widow of Richard Smith, Jr., died Saturday, July 21, 2012. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Marienia Smith was born on January 23, 1936 in Oilton, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Joe E. Lock and the late Bulah Cooper. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Dorene Hodge of Johns Island, SC, Joyce L. (Raymond) Buell of Ladson, SC, and Diana (Jerry) Barrett of Johns Island, SC; two sons, Joe D. Smith of Johns Island, SC, and Alvin R. Smith of North Charleston, SC; one brother, Henry Alvin Lock of Oregon; two sisters, Bonnie Fair of California and Joyce Roberts of Johns Island, SC; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin L. Smith.
