Marie J. Davison, 79, of James Island, South Carolina, wife of Robert "Bob" E. Davison died peacefully Monday, October 23, 2017 surrounded by her children and husband. The family will receive friends Wednesday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Marie was born November 19, 1937 in Rock Hill, SC, daughter of the late Frank William Jennings and Mable Ayers Jennings. She was a loving wife and mother who devoted 57 years of marriage to raising a family and providing the love and home for her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. Marie served as a substitute teacher at Stiles Point Elementary and also helped many underprivileged children in learning to read. In addition, after her youngest daughter was a young adult, Marie chose to work outside the home at various companies that included Don Davis Sales (Tom's Peanuts), JW Imports, and Harris Cohen Drug Store. Before her marriage, she worked at Electric Service and Repair in Rock Hill, SC as a bookkeeper. Marie enjoyed artistic endeavors and in her younger years, was an aspiring artist in both oil and pastel mediums. At one time, she and a friend decided to start a ceramic business and subsequently, made green ware and finished ceramic pieces for pleasure and for sale. She later started raising butterflies as a hobby and took great pleasure in observing the development of butterflies. Marie grew up with five sisters and they all had a special bond and love for each other that added greatly to her life. She was a 1956 graduate of Winthrop Training School in Rock Hill, SC and always had fond memories of her time from k-12 grades with her classmates.

For many years, Marie and her sisters would spend the 4th of July week at Edisto Beach where many memories were created. Also, the families would gather at Keowee-Toxaway State Park to enjoy the fall colors and fellowship. She was, at one time, active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the James Island Yacht Club and until her illness, was an active member of Harbor View Presbyterian Church, James Island, SC. Marie loved to shop and especially enjoyed the family mountain home in Tryon, NC which she decorated by antique store shopping. She also took great pleasure in being a member of the Low Country Model A Ford Club and touring throughout the Southeastern states with friends and her husband in their 1930 Model A Ford car. She loved nature and at one time, enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She will be greatly missed by her husband, daughters, family and friends.

Marie is survived by her husband, Bob; daughters, Elizabeth D. Mixon (Ronnie) of Randleman, NC and Jennifer A. Olson (John) of James Island, SC; grandchildren: Joshua E. Mixon (Shannon) of Socastee, SC, Erin B. Mixon of Randleman, NC, Will Olson and Lily Olson both of James Island, SC; sisters: Joanne Miller and Carol Taylor of Rock Hill, SC, Alma Kiser of Isle of Palms, SC and Mable Varnadore of Great Falls, SC; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Landrum Jennings and sister, Rebecca Faye Bryant.

The family would like to give special recognition to Roper Hospice of Charleston nurses: Becky Spehr, Dixie Bullock and Lori Daugherty; Volunteer Coordinator, Laurie Beckman and volunteers: Donna Gatch, Dolores Harris, Rev. Mary Ellen Doran and Peyton Staib; aide, Alanie Brown and the entire hospice team.
