Marie Antoinette Paulson was born on March 7, 1926 in Mulhouse, France and peacefully passed away on November 23, 2011 at Savannah Grace in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Ms. Paulson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Woodrow Paulson of Mt. Horeb, WI.
Ms. Paulson's career began as a secretary to an industrial diamond dealer in Paris, France. After marriage to her husband, his career in the government took the family to live in Germany, France, Washington, D.C., New Delhi, India and Saigon, Vietnam. While in New Delhi and Saigon, Ms. Paulson taught French at the Alliance Francaise and as a private tutor.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Ms. Paulson did some modeling, loved music, swimming, cooking and baking, walking, and the theater.
She is survived by her children Joyce of Lexington, MA, Susan of Madison, WI, Henry of Roswell, GA, and Carol, and her husband, Jim of Watersmeet, MI. Additionally, Ms. Paulson is survived by her sister, Georgette Rittimann of Belle Ile-En-Mer, France; five grandchildren, including Christina Liegl and her husband, Jeffrey, and Juliana Haacke, all of Daniel Island, SC, Jenna Anshel of Roswell, GA, Forrest and Danielle Schaefer of Madison, WI; and six great-grandchildren.
Ms. Paulson's family would also like to recognize her personal caregiver, Theresa Vanderhorst of McClellanville, SC who provided loving care and developed a very special relationship with Ms. Paulson. In addition, the family would like to recognize all the staff at Savannah Grace of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Summit Place on Daniel Island, SC who provided excellent support and care over the last several years. It has been our family's blessing to have these special staff and caregivers in the later years of Ms. Paulson's life.
A service and celebration of Ms. Paulson's life will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 294 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island, SC 29492, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011.
