Marianne Louise Sullivan-Omark, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Stephen S. Omark died on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Marianne fought a courageous battle with cancer extending over many years. The relatives and friends of Marianne Sullivan-Omark are invited to attend a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel following the service until 4:00pm. Burial will take place in Auburn, NY at a later date.
Marianne was born on November 8, 1931 in Auburn, New York, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth McKendrick Sullivan. She received her Bachelor's in Education from Buffalo State and her Master's from Brockport State, NY. She taught home economics and was a guidance counselor for 33 years in the Rochester, New York school district. Marianne also taught 2 years for the Dept. of Defense, a year in Cotswolds, England, and a year in Verdon France. After retirement, she was a Middle School Counselor for 2 years on the Isle of Guam. Marianne was a graceful adventurist. She was a strong, intelligent, capable, and independent woman who loved exploration, travel, and was an avid reader of varied interests. She enjoyed many book and bridge groups. Marianne was the "fun" aunt that all the children looked forward to visiting with. She will be remembered by her family and everyone who knew her, for her enthusiasm, joy and the humor she brought into their lives.
Marianne is survived by her husband, Stephen Omark of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her brother-in-law, Irwin Abrams of Plymouth, MA; her niece, Elizabeth Abrams Reid ( Dan ), grand nephew, Samuel and grand niece, Margaret , all of Durham, NC; her nephew, Michael Abrams ( Erin ), grand niece, Sullivan, and grand nephew, Jack , all of Glendale, CA; her niece, Katherine Mryglot Nolan of Lynn, MA; her grand niece, Lindsay Nolan of Boston, MA; her nephew, Charles Mryglot ( Diane) and grand nieces Chelsea and Courtney of Framingham, MA.
