Marguerite "Townie" Towning Krawcheck, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Colonial Street on December 16, 2025. Townie was born in Charleston, SC, on November 28, 1939, to Charles M. Tyler and Marguerite Mood Tyler. She attended Ashley Hall, Crafts School, Greenville High School, and The University of South Carolina.

Townie was married to Leonard Krawcheck (Lenny) for 63 years. They started their young family in New Orleans where Lenny attended Tulane Law School, and Townie supported the family as a lab technician. Upon their return to Charleston, they moved into the family home on Colonial Street where she raised their beloved children: Kenneth C. Krawcheck (Heather) of Wilmington, N.C.; Sallie L. Krawcheck (Gary Appel) of New York, N.Y.; Johnathan T. Krawcheck (Lisa Youngblood) of Cashiers, N.C.; and Elizabeth K. Rodgers (Stanley) of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren (Johnathan, Kitty, Sarah Louise, Eleanor, Tyler, Emma, Anne and Jack), whom she loved with all her heart, her beloved daughter-in-law Trudie Krawcheck, and her cherished sister, and partner in fun, Sallie Pritchard.

Townie loved and supported Lenny and her family in all their endeavors. She was a wonderful cook, making sure that the family gathered around the dinner table nightly. Meals were always delicious and filled with warmth and spirited discussion.

Townie was a championship sailor, a master gardener, loved to read, and had a deep appreciation for nature. She had numerous deep longtime friendships. She was active for many years in the American Heart Association Heart Ball and the Charleston Museum.

Townie was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Patty O'Brien and Charlene Marshall.

Her funeral will be held at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
