Marguerite Jacques

Marguerite Jacques, 95, of Johns Island, South Carolina, wife of Charles H. Jacques, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Adams Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the West Ashley Chapel beginning one hour prior to the service.

Marguerite was born March 22, 1927 in Maxton, North Carolina, daughter of the late J.B. Culpepper and Eula Bell Abbott Culpepper. Marguerite taught Sunday School, Sunbeams, the GA's, and RA's. She baked and sold cakes, and was well known for her Mac and Cheese. She also loved to crochet afghans and blankets for friends and family. She always took care of not only her kids but theirs and so on. She was there for our births, our birthdays, our happy days, our sad days, our sicknesses, and through our health. She was the backbone of our family and a rock for us all. She raised us, cared for us, cheered us on, laughed with us, cried with us, and loved us all so much. She was an amazing mother, an amazing grandmother, a strong role model, an amazing wife, and a wonderful person.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lynn Garvin; her sons, Herbert C. Smith and Steven M. Smith; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Frederick.

Memorial donations may be made in Marguerite's honor to the First Baptist Church of John's Island.
