Entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 12, 2012, Marguerite Jackson Gilbert, 83, widow of CDR Norman Foster Gilbert, US Navy (Ret) of Charleston, South Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 3 pm. Entombment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, Sunday afternoon from 1 pm until the time of service.
Born January 19, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia, Marguerite was the daughter of the late Harry Charles Jackson and Carolyn Kelly Jackson. Marguerite was a graduate of Fulton High School, Agnes Scott College and did Graduate Research at Georgia Tech. She was a former Public School Teacher and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lt CDR. She graduated in the last class of Direct Commissioned Officers.
She is survived by her cousins, Lambert Wayne McChesney (Karen) of Lawrenceville, GA; Patricia Callaway of Atlanta, GA; John Perry and Steve Perry of GA; Joyce Watson of AL and many close friends. Marguerite was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Gilbert.
