Margaret B. Wright, 94, of Folly Beach, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 56 Center Street, at 10:00 a.m. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The daughter of James F. and Thelma S. Brooks, Margie was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on May 2, 1921. She was an avid runner who won numerous age group plaques and trophies during her running career. Margie ran in the first Cooper River Bridge Run in 1978, and was the oldest female to cross the finish line. She was a graduate of Antioch College and a retiree of the Medical University of South Carolina. She was a long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Folly Beach. Margie maintained the grounds, as well as the inside of the church until she was in her early eighties.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Susan W. Guinn (Eddie); sons: Howard F. Wright (Karen), Ralph M. Wright (Patti), and William B. Wright (Jeannie); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, James Alvin Wright; son, Paul Gardner Wright Jr.; husband, Paul Gardner Wright, Sr.; and sister, Marianne B. Mallory.
