Margaret "Peggy" Lowder Love of Ravenel, SC, wife of the late George Ray Love, entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2024.
Peggy was born April 8th, 1935, in Charleston, SC to Ryan Wesley Lowder and Mildred Hazel Hook Lowder. Peggy was formerly married to the late Wyman "Bud" Amsler with whom she had four children; two boys, Phil and Tommy, and two girls, Christine and Phyllis.
Peggy was a hairdresser and shop manager at the Parris Island Marine Corps Exchange where she met her second husband, Ray Love, who also worked on base. After they married, they owned gas stations in Georgia, and later, in Charleston, where they also owned Love Tire and Auto Shop in West Ashley. She was a member of Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church, always had a quick smile and a generous spirit for those in need. Peggy was funny and feisty even through her battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by both husbands and her youngest daughter, Phyllis Amsler Cook. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth "Betty" Lowder Neumann and Joan Hanagriff, and her brothers Robert "Bob" Higgins, and William Patrick Lowder.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Christine E. Petersen of Ravenel, son Phil Amsler and his wife Sandi of Beaufort, son Thomas "Tommy" Amsler of Beaufort, and stepson, Donald "Don" Love of Statesboro, GA. She is also survived by her grandson Gary A. Petersen and his wife Melissa, granddaughter Jennifer Amsler Talbert and her husband Brad of Bluffton, granddaughter Paige Amsler Sprietsma and her husband Charlie of Beaufort, step-grandson, Chad Love of Statesboro, GA, and step-granddaughter Madeline Love of Statesboro, GA. Peggy is also survived by her great grandchildren Kaitlin Petersen, Anderson Talbert, McClure Talbert, Ryan Sprietsma, Scotty Sprietsma.
The family would like to thank Lutheran Hospice and especially nurse Rita Maxwell. Many thanks to our "cul de sac family" for their kindness over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 11:00 am, at J. Henry Stuhr West Ashley Chapel 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Charleston, SC 29414. A Private Burial service will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery.
