Margaret Charbonnier Space Moore

November 7, 1933 — June 7, 2016

Margaret Charbonnier Space Moore, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest at home on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 peacefully surrounded by her three loving children. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 in St. Michael's Church, 71 Broad Street at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Kinloch Room, St. Michael's Church. Private interment, Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Meta was born November 7, 1933, in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of the late Julian Austin Space and Margaret McGowan Space. She was a 1951 graduate of Foxhollow School in Lenox, MA and a 1955 graduate of Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, VA. She was a retired Travel Agent and an active member of St. Michael's Church.

Meta was a member of the Junior League of Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC, The Colonial Dames of America, The Trustee Garden Club of Savannah and The Ivy Garden Club of Charleston. Meta was a trustee of the Historic Charleston Foundation, the Historic Savannah Foundation, a member of the Board of the SC Historical Society, the Local Committee of Spoletto, USA and Savannah-On-Stage.
Meta loved her church, her family and friends, sports of all kinds and continued to travel throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughters: Margaret Charbonnier Moore Miller (Blair) of Pennington, NJ and Susan Rutledge Moore Hoogland (Keith) of Glenview, IL; son, Benjamin Allston Moore III (Caroline) of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister, Elizabeth Collier Space Dunn (Mitchell) of Savannah, GA and 11 grandchildren: Bam and Dana Miller, McLain (Jessica), Alex, Kathleen (Chase), Ben, C.C. and Sam Hoogland and Allston, Emily and Maggie Moore.

Meta was predeceased by her brother, Julian Bowdre Space and his wife Mary Foy Space of Savannah, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael's Church, 71 Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or the Historic Charleston Foundation, 40 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
