Margaret “Ellen” Lewin passed away at Roper St. Francis hospice on June 15, 2025. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., N. Charleston at 11 am. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort SC at 2 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

She was born to Lewis “Bill” Bowdoin and Margaret Bowdoin on 29 July 1957. She held several jobs over the course of her lifetime including teacher’s aide, factory worker, she worked at a newspaper and at a gym, just to name a few. She also volunteered with several charity organizations including Patriot Guard Riders and the president of the Lowcountry Blue Star Mothers and the North Charleston Exchange Club. But the job she loved the most was being a mother and a grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an avid reader; it was seldom you would see her sitting somewhere without her nose in a book.

On July 6th, 1975, she married Robert “Bob” Lewin to whom she would stay married for 50 years. Together they had 2 children, Katie Langdon “George” of Hanahan SC, and Joshua Lewin “Amanda” of Goose Creek SC. She had 7 grandchildren: Matthew Purdie, Brianna Allen, Claire Langdon, Hailey Lewin, Brendon Allen, Blake Lewin, Lauren Langdon and 3 great grandchildren- Zaiden Robinson, Luca Purdie and Greyson Purdie. She has a large southern family including one sister, three brothers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
