Margaret Alma Johnson Jones

January 14, 1925 — July 17, 2010

Margaret Alma Johnson Jones, 85, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday morning, July 17, 2010.  She was born in Loyall, Kentucky to Andrew K. Johnson and Betty Payne Johnson on January 14, 1925.


The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Thursday, July 22, 2010 at eleven-thirty at the graveside in Riverview Memorial Park.   


Alma's first job was as a bookkeeper for her father's contracting business in Harlan, Kentucky.  She met her husband, Donald Jones, while working as a stenographer at the University of Tennessee Agricultural College in Knoxville, Tennessee.  As a military wife, Alma traveled extensively with her husband and their two children living in France and Germany for several years in the late1950's. 


When Alma moved to Charleston, South Carolina with her family in 1963, she was a full-time wife and mother while working part-time at a local real estate office.  After she retired in 1985, she filled her days with art lessons, doll-making, ceramics, and babysitting her young grandchildren. 


Alma is survived by her husband, Donald Jones, her son Donald Louis Jones and his wife Clarice Marchman-Jones, her grandsons William Satterwhite, Harper Marchman-Jones and Dylan Marchman-Jones and her granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Satterwhite. She was predeceased by her brothers, Victor Owen Johnson and William Charles Johnson and her daughter, Sharon Jones Satterwhite.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
